Event: Ferry Silalahi is shot dead after he leaves a prayer session at the house of Palu lawyer Thomas Ihalauw.

Note: There are several cases Silalahi handled that could have been connected to his death. The day before his murder, several JI suspects were held in detention despite winning their appeal to the Central Sulawesi High Court.

Ferry had also handled drugs cases in Tangerang before being moved to Central Sulawesi.

Event: Helmi Tombiling is stabbed to death at 9:00pm at her patrol stand by a man on a motorbike who had stopped to pretend to buy gasoline.

Actors: Tanah Runtuh/JI (this case remained mysterious for a number of years, but it is now known that the shooter was Basri, from the Tanah Runtuh group)

Event: Reverend Susianty Tinulele is shot and killed in the middle of a church service she was leading at Effatha Church. Four members of the congregation are shot and injured.

Note: This was a very high profile shooting which brought a lot of attention back to Central Sulawesi.

Event: Carminalis Ndele is found beheaded after leaving his house with a man resembling Ahmad Laparigi. Ndele's head was dumped in a bag in the city suburb of Sayo, his body was found near Pinedapa village. Ahmad Laparigi arrested in connection with the murder but not charged.

Note: It is suspected that Ndele had refused to return part of the money allocated to his village for recovery back to Laparigi, which was common practice in Poso. The police did not have enough evidence to convict Laparigi.

Event: Imbo is shot and killed at close range by gunmen on a motorbike while he is driving a public transport vehicle on the Tentena-Madale route.

Note: The head of the military in Poso said it seemed it was a pre-meditated murder, because Imbo was shot on the return journey from Tentena after a person hiding behind the bushes called out he had just gone past.

Event: A bomb explodes in a public transport vehicle parked at Poso's central market. Six people are killed and two are wounded (one loses both his legs and a finger, the other loses her hearing). Those killed were mostly from Sepe village.

Note: Jahya Aling is one of the survivors of this bombing and tells his story in "Which Way to the War?"
