Doda, 26, Olmas Daya, 27, Yohan Ewakloa, 21, and Cecen Mangiri, 20 others were reported missing. Twenty-seven houses were also burned, as well as the burning and bombing of the Pentecostal and Central Sulawesi Christian Church. In response 1,200 villagers fled to Tentena.

Event: Italian citizen Lorenzo Taddei, 34, is killed in ambush on public bus. Jirunimus (36), Timutius (52), Karangan (21) and Alberting Montang (42) are injured.

Note: This is the only recorded incident of a foreigner being killed in the Poso conflict. Apparently, Taddei was a tourist that had spent time in Protestant villages, somehow raising the suspicion of Laskar Bulan Sabit Merah, one of the groups operating in the Poso area, that he was a spy for the Christians.

Producers Note: Taddei had been the client of the same guide, Budiono, as the crew of "Which Way to the War?" in the Toraja region on South Sulawesi. Budiono begged the crew not to go onto Poso, saying he had done the same with Taddei and had been ignored.

Event: Abner Malaka (26) Dimin (40) and Asmono (21) are injured after being attacked between the villages of Taliwan and Peleru in Mori Atas subdistrict, Morowali district. L Pitra (67) and Erik (3) are killed and almost all of the houses in Mayumba village are burned to the ground during an attack by around 50 people wearing black masks and using automatic weapons and bombs.

Note: The Morowali district was originally part of the Poso district, but was separated in 1999. Fabianus Tibo was living in Morowali at the time of his arrest.

Event: Laskar Jihad decides to disband hours before the nightclub bombings in Bali that killed 202. There is no evidence they are connected to the incident. Laskar Jihad said its mission was completed in Ambon (their main area of activity, they had only a small section of their fighers in Poso) and that they would begin to withdrawl their troops from Ambon and Poso. Their website was immediately shut down and the headquarters closed.

Event: Just one week after the nightclub bombings in Bali perpetrated by Jemaah Islamiya, a new wakalah, or subdivision of JI is created for Poso. A Javanese man, Hasanuddin, who had been a star student at the JI training academy in Mindanao (a war-torn area of the southern Philippines) is chosen to become the leader. He makes Tanah Runtuh in Poso City the nerve center of jihadi activity and is quickly wed to Adnan Arsal's daughter.
