Event: A bomb explodes outside a church in Kawua, a predominately Protestant area.  According to eyewitness accounts, soldiers (TNI) pressed bystanders to attack the police, while five policemen ran towards the predominately Muslim neighborhood of Sayo yelling "they're attacking!'. This was taken to mean the Protestants were attacking, Sayo residents then alerted other members of the community to prepare for defense. Nearly falling into a fight, religious leaders of both communities finally calmed the situation.
